Madagascar : Visite Pastorale du Supérieur général au District d’Antananarivo: 15-16 novembre

Mardi 15 novembre 2016 : célébration de la clôture de la célébration des 150 ans de présence des Frères à Madagascar au lycée Stella Maris de Toamasina.

Toamasina, port le plus important de Madagascar, vit arriver les trois premiers Frères Français en route vers Antananarivo en 1866. Ce n’est qu’en 1962 que fut créé le Lycée Stella Maris à Toamasina. Depuis sa création, plusieurs Frères et professeurs Laïcs se sont dépensés corps et âme au service des enfants et des jeunes. La célébration de la clôture des 150 ans de présence des Frères constituait pour le Lycée Stella Maris une belle occasion pour honorer ses éducateurs. Le grand Chancelier, Mgr Désiré Tsarahazana, archevêque de Toamasina, accorda lors de cette célébration, 19 médailles du mérite et 5 médailles d’officier à des professeurs du lycée Stella Maris. » Read more

Tuesday, November 15, 2016: Closing Celebration of the 150 years’ celebration of Brothers’ presence in Madagascar in Lycée Stella Maris of Toamasina.

Toamasina, the most important seaport of Madagascar saw the arrival of the first three French Brothers heading to Antananarivo in 1866. It is only in 1962 that Lycée Stella Maris in Toamasina was founded. Ever since its foundation, many Brothers and lay teachers have dedicated themselves body and soul to the service of children and young people. The closing celebration of the 150 years of Brothers’ presence was for the Lycée Stella Maris a beautiful opportunity to honour its educators. The Grand Chancellor, Bishop Désiré Tsarahazana, Archbishop of Toamasina, granted during this celebration, 19 medals of merit and 5 medals of officer to teachers of Lycée Stella Maris. » Read more

Monday, November14: Visit in Lycée Stella Maris of Toamasina

Our Flight from Antananarivo to Toamasina lasted only 35 minutes. A reception committee led us straight to the airport lounge where a member of the students’ parents association, a Physics and Chemistry teacher in the school and BR Jean Noël, Director of the biggest Catholic High School of Madagascar were waiting for us. Stella Maris has 3000 students and 150 teachers. It gets almost every year the best results in the country official examinations. A traditional loincloth was wrapped around the general Superior’s waist and a hat was offered to him by the hostesses… » Read more

Lundi 14 novembre : Visite du Lycée Stella Maris de Toamasina

Notre vol d’Antananarivo à Toamasina dura seulement 35 mn de vol. Un comité d’accueil nous conduisit directement dans le salon de l’aéroport où nous attendaient un membre de l’association des parents d’élèves, un professeur de physique chimie de l’établissement et le Fr Jean Noël, directeur du plus grand lycée catholique de Madagascar. Stella Maris compte 3000 élèves et 150 enseignants. Il obtient pratiquement chaque année les meilleurs résultats aux examens officiels du pays. Un pagne traditionnel fut noué autour de la taille du Supérieur général et un chapeau lui fut offert par des hôtesses de circonstance… » Read more
