Asky Flight number KP 38 landed on Chad ground, more precisely on the tarmac of Hassan Djamouss international airport at 8:45 pm. The general Superior, Br Robert Schieler, accompanied by the general Councillor in charge of RELAF and the District bursar, Br Marek, arrived in N’Djamena for the last stage of his pastoral visit in the District of Central Africa: the stage of Chad, after that of Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon. Thursday, November 3, 2016: Lomié-Yaoundé…

The Superior had to face this Thursday, November 3, nearly 9 hours on the road by car, first on the forest track from Lomié to Abong MBang and then on asphalt road from Abong MBang to Yaoundé. We stopped at Abong Bang to meet Bishop Ozga, Bishop of Doume- Abong MBang, who wished to meet the general Superior. Our arrival in Yaoundé coincided with the traffic jam due to school and offices closing time, such traffic jam is common in many of our African cities… As soon as we got into the community, the Superior was informed through email the sad news of the death of his niece Rihanna, aged 30 and mother of two children. Lomié – Cameroon: Pastoral visit of the general Superior in the District of Central Africa

The collecting of the general Superior’s passport at Chad Embassy delayed our departure from Yaoundé to Lomié. We got to face the 275 km that separates the two cities at 11: 00 am. Half of the journey is done on a forest track and we met frequently logging trucks heavily loaded. One of these behemoths that was overthrown and blocking the passage forced us to stop for a long time in the heart of the forest. A forest track, made even more dangerous by the rain, always has a few surprises for the most careful driver. That is why the visitor, Br Blaise, despite his dexterity with the steering wheel, could not spare us some violent shaking. When the night fell, driving became even more difficult. The general Superior participated in the 6: 15 am mass in the Basilica of Yaoundé. After mass, there was moment of joy and reunion for some and opportunity for the general Superior to meet Sister Chantal, younger sister of the general Councillor and member of the congregation of the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation in mission in Yaoundé. This Monday morning was devoted to administrative formalities to obtain an entry visa in Chad for the general Superior and also for the District bursar, Brother Marek. » Read more
